Audio World ‘13

On Friday 22nd March loaded the van and we set off for Audio World ’13 at the Radisson Hotel, Manchester Airport. A severe weather front had just descended across the country, which made getting there interesting.

Once we arrived, we located our room (112) and set about getting ready for the show. We unloaded, unboxed the gear, grabbed a quick beer & then turned our attention our gear. After several hours of playing around we had a system that was really singing – we threw Bowie, Free, Hendrix, Miles Davis at it and every time the music just poured out!!

We’d decided to take a simple system which gave people a flavour of high efficiency loudspeakers matched with low powered valve amps. The obvious choice was to take Audion Amps matched with Zu Audio.

At the show we did closed dem’s, giving people the opportunity to sit down, relax and enjoy the music. Throughout the day we rotated the amps, starting with the EL34, moving to the 300B and finishing with the 845’s. All of which work brilliantly with Zu Audio.

People responded to the sound we were producing; maybe it was due to the fact we were playing real music that people actually listen to, or they liked the system. Either way, the show was a big success for us. We will definitely be showing at Audio World ’14.
