A good customer called by the other day with a selection of superb albums, one being Free’s second album, Free. He’d been sifting through his CD collection and stumbled across Free’s second album and had forgotten what a fantastic album it was. We gave it a listen and it’s fair to say we totally agree!! If you’ve already got it, stick it back on. If not, you’ll be able to pick up a copy for a couple of quid.

Hi Dave and Andy
Hope all is well and the hi-fi show in Manchester went well. I have a 1st pressing on vinyl of Free’s Free album. Not played it yet on my Versalex but I fly home in two weeks so look forward to giving it a spin.
By the way I wasn’t ever really happy with the plywood edging on my Versalex so as the walnut veneered top had a strong black fleck to it I decided to sand down the edge and paint with a black paint which has a matt finish to it that matches the platter, arm and legs very nicely. It no doubt helped being a Carpenter and does make it look more Amadeus esk but I’m happy with the results. By the way the consensus on Pink Fish seems to be that the Amadeus sounds better than the Versalex. Don’t agree with that one at all.
I’ll be looking to buy either HX100 or Obelisks2 this summer from you so will be in touch.
Rob
Hi Rob,
The Hi-Fi show went really well, thanks for asking. We took the Well Tempered Versalex along and it got a lot of interest.
I’m seriously jealous!! You’ll have to bring it along with you next time you pop in.
We’d have to agree with you on that one. Every dem we’ve done back to back, the Versalex has always come out on top.
How are you getting on with your system? Everything ok?
Dave
Hi Dave.
The system is great thanks. No regrets purchasing anything from you. Ive also completely come around to your reasoning on keeping it simple. With my set up best to avoid glass, metal and spikes as part of the rack and use basic ring main supply for current.
It will be nice to upgrade one item per year and frankly that’s all I can stretch to as I’ve spent so much money buying new and good second hand vinyl. That reflects how much more Im enjoying Classical, Jazz and recordings that are less than perfect. Have you got Neil Young Live at Massey Hall on vinyl? It feels like Ive been transporting back in time to the gig, ten rows back, when listening to that.
I’m a member of the Audio Circle forum and one guy from New Zealand who owns an Amadeus is really switched on. We’ve exchanged several posts. He recently compared his deck with a bells and whistles LP12. Suffice to say he wrote that the hideously expensive Linn was very dynamic but not as natural as his Amadeus. He likened the LP12 as a deck on Steroids. I echo that. I don’t think many LP12 owners realise that there is a whole new world out there. The guys in Glasgow have always known how to market though!
Thanks again for introducing me to Well Tempered/ Dynavector/ Densen/ Mogami and Shahinian. To anyone reading this and still on the fence let Dave and Andy dem you there products, you won’t regret it…..
