NAIM NAIT 5si
.
We are extremely pleased to announce we have the new Naim Nait 5si on dem. The term NAIT doesn’t just describe a product range, it defines a philosophy; a way of thinking born with the original NAIT of 1983. It says you can keep your impressive specifications with inflated power outputs; Naim value simplicity and focus. It demands that Naim attend to every detail in design; it’s the only way they can give you the best possible sound. And it’s why all of their creations meet their final judgement in the listening room, not in the lab. The NAIT 5si, NAIT XS 2 and SUPERNAIT 2 integrated amplifiers are the next evolution of this philosophy. They exist to serve one purpose: to bring you closer to music.
.
Each of the NAIT integrated amplifiers benefit from the breakthroughs in audio technology and engineering that result from thousands of hours of development time. Their over-sized toroidal transformers offer enough power to handle even the most demanding of loudspeakers and recordings. Signal path and circuit design has been carefully optimised to maintain maximum fidelity and each component part has been selected through intensive testing, first in the lab and then in the listening room. Great lengths have been taken to minimise unwanted noise and interference too: from the non-magnetic anti-resonance aluminium encasings, to shoulder bolts designed to dissipate unwanted vibrations. In our quest for the ultimate sound quality, no detail is too small to ignore and no barrier too large to overcome.
.
Decades have passed, but the role of the NAIT 5si is fundamentally the same as its original forebear. So the engineering challenge – to maximise performance whilst maintaining engineering efficiency, quality and reliability – hasn’t changed. Amplifier technology has moved on considerably however, and while the NAIT 5si occupies the same position in the Naim range as the original NAIT, its performance might be from a different world.
.
The NAIT 5si provides four analogue inputs and a 60 Watt per channel power amplifier. It features a new headphone amplifier and borrows numerous technologies from across the spectrum of Naim products; all dedicated towards maximising its ability to communicate the fundamentals of music. And communicate it does. The NAIT 5si brings clarity, engaging dynamics and, most of all, infectious enthusiasm to every music source and genre. Just like the NAIT of 1983. Here are a few snippets from a review by What Hi Fi?
When an update of a much-loved product launches, there’s a lot of expectation for it to be everything its predecessor was, and then some. With the Nait 5si, Naim has nailed it.
Dynamically it’s strong too – play Etta James’ My Baby Just Cares For Me, and the punchy piano instrumental bounces along with absolute rhythmic precision. You can pick out the layers of detail in every individual drum stroke, and all the soulful texture of James’ vocal comes across with stunning clarity.
