about ProJect X1 Turntable
As ever, we only stock what we have listened to, and what we believe truly represents real value in both musical terms and in your wallet – The ProJect X1 is no exception, and offers a quite staggering musical experience without breaking the bank.
Building on 30 years of experience the new Project X series is a direct descendant of the original P1 & the previous Xpression Carbon, but using the latest technology & engineering to produce the best X series to date.
Physically, the X1 is framed by its larger, heavier weighted MDF structure, out-performing the particle board or plastic chassis alternatives seen in other turntables. Inside, it houses an advanced DC/AC generator board which, combined with the convenient speed control board, delivers clean and stable power to the quiet-running motor. For even better performance, the motor is decoupled from the main plinth using a new motor suspension system.
The X1 truly represents the epitome of Pro-Ject’s core philosophies. Due to their extensive experience and meticulous manufacturing processes, they put resources, time and effort into giving music lovers the best sound for their money, rather than cutting corners to save on costs.
From their sophisticated motor drive system on to the specially selected cartridge, the audiophile tonearm set-up features, the purpose-designed feet, the hand-cut acrylic platter and beyond, X1 delivers a luxury level of audio and technical excellence that belies the mid-level price tag.
Speed control with electronic speed switch for ease of use
1.5 kg heavy acryl platter, Resonance-free
8,6” carbon/aluminium sandwich tonearm with best internal damping and TPE damped counterweight

The Pro-Ject X1 may be a long way from being the best turntable money can buy, but it’s pretty much there in terms of being the best value. Highly capable at the price, it gives its rivals a seriously hard time and for the true turntable enthusiast there’s plenty of tweaking potential on offer too. More than just a worthy successor to the original, it’s an accomplished design in its own right. – Hi-Fi News
